The latest painting series I’m working on is entitled, ‘uncopyrightable‘.
QR Codes in their graphic nature are anonymous and not easy to identify with for branding or commercial purposes. This series notes how massing codes together can change the anonymous nature of 2D codes while at the same time continuing on the tradition of expressing commercialism through art. I broke away from illustrating commercialism directly by not painting a relationship to any particular commercial form. I did this in order to combine the codes in variations of colors and textures and include as many commercial entities onto one surface plane. The idea is to make images in this series that are colorful, social, and mobile friendly as well as accessible wherever they are displayed.
The first image in the series is titled, ’100 to 1′. As the title suggests there are 100 QR Codes hand painted onto a stretched canvas in an assortment of colors. In the center of the image is a QR that links all of the codes together.
I like to think of the painting’s surface as a plethora of digital treasure embedded into it. The embedded QR’s have the ability to be personalized for commercial or personal purposes such as product labels, websites, blogs, social pages and more. Please have a look at where I am showcasing the image online at Seed Codes.
There is a wealth of digital treasure on the internet that can be seen through art and I hope you will enjoy my series
