The QR Code postcard was designed by J.LeMay Studios in Santa Barbara, California for the QR4 World event held in central London in June 2011. Sotheby’s Institute of Art selected this design as one of the 5 images from participants in the event. The ‘Nothing Like Chocolate’ QR postcard was further exhibited at Sotheby’s London Institute in July of 2011.

The latest painting series I’m working on is entitled, ‘uncopyrightable‘. 

QR Codes in their graphic nature are anonymous and not easy to identify with for branding or commercial purposes. This series notes how massing codes together can change the anonymous nature of 2D codes while at the same time continuing on the tradition of expressing commercialism through art. I broke away from illustrating commercialism directly by not painting a relationship to any particular commercial form. I did this in order to combine the codes in variations of colors and textures and include as many commercial entities onto one surface plane. The idea is to make images in this series that are colorful, social, and mobile friendly as well as accessible wherever they are displayed.

The first image in the series is titled, ’100 to 1′. As the title suggests there are 100 QR Codes hand painted onto a stretched canvas in an assortment of colors. In the center of the image is a QR that links all of the codes together. 

I like to think of the painting’s surface as a plethora of digital treasure embedded into it. The embedded QR’s have the ability to be personalized for commercial or personal purposes such as product labels, websites, blogs, social pages and more. Showcased at Sotheby's Institute of Art-London

This summer I’m working on a series of 2D interactive artworks I call Mobile Bouquets. I entered  a reproduction of one into the QR4 World, QR Code postcard style exhibition in London. As part of the exhibition, Sotheby’s Institute of Art selected five images to showcase at their London Institute in July 2011. My image was selected and can be seen in the above photograph on the very left hand side. 

Monkey Design-Television Girl with QR Code

Entries are in for the QR code postcard style exhibition to take place at the Winston House in London next week. The first postcard image that I received was from Monkey Design, a 3D paper-craft models company based in Taiwan and in the US.

The idea behind this card was to assemble the printed design into a 3D image called ‘Television Girl’. So I gave it a try and this is what I came up with! The QR Code when scanned leads to a mobile profile page that I designed for the company as part of the event. The mobile page links directly to their website.

Youth Code

I entered “Youth Code” into the YOG medal design competition. My aim for this design was to provide a technology feature that would engage people to interact with the medal. Mobile technologies are providing more ways to connect offline objects with online access. My use of a QR Code was to enable an iconic award with a digital element and encourage involvement at some level with the first winter Youth Olympic Games. The design competition is unique in that it gives the public a chance to design the medals for the first winter Youth Olympic Games, to be held in Innsbruck in January 2012.

QR Crests are similar to logos in that they identify a brand. This new style of crest now has a technological feature that can be accessed with a mobile phone called a QR Code. A qr code is basically a 2d barcode that can connect viewers to a range of digital media and content. Before & After

One idea for this publication is centered on sharing dreams. To make the publication interesting and exclusive, I have created a lottery group. Yes, a dream that many people may have in common.
